Resort Overview

Winter Season & Ski

Four skiing areas connected by frequent ski buses showcasing modern skiing infrastructure coupled with incredible panoramas. Sportgastein with the highest peak of the area and three signposted “routes” is ideal for freeriders and fans of off-piste powder skiing. The rest of the valley offers a great diversity of slopes for skiers of all levels both in the open terrain and in the forests when visibility is lower. Away from the pistes, there is also plenty of fun to be had dog-sledding, ice-skating, sleigh-riding or snow-biking. Fans of cross-country skiing will find seven trails extending to 45km and leading through some scenic diverse landscape.
Summer Season
With lush meadows, imposing mountain peaks and plenty of fresh air, there is a lot to experience over summer in the Gastein Valley and each town offers some unique adventures. Some of the lifts in every town remain open in summer and let you conquer the peaks and enjoy the 360 degrees panorama from the top. Put on your hiking shoes and explore the pristine Hohe Tauern National Park that counts more than 600km of hiking paths of all level of difficulty. Thrill-seekers looking for some adrenaline have plenty of options as well including paragliding, flying waters, archery and climbing. If you just wish to decompress, you could unwind during a yoga class in the open nature or immerse yourself in one of the thermal pools in the immense Alpentherme in Bad Hofgastein or the Felsentherme in Bad Gastein filled with the famous Gastein thermal water. Lovers of golf will enjoy the well-maintained 18-hole golf course set against the impressive peaks of the Hohe Tauern as well as the fun mini-golf course and the indoor gold centre complete with a 3D simulator and video analysis to improve your skills.
Food scene
With the highest concentration of organic farmers among the Austrian provinces, the Salzburgerland is a true foodie hotspot. The “Via Culinaria” concept assembles select restaurants in the region which offer outstanding quality, authenticity and service. These could be cosy village inns or more formal white table-cloth establishments. In winter, you can taste a different local specialty prepared by an acclaimed chef at one of the “Ski Toques” huts. Alternatively, book a “Summit Breakfast” and enjoy the first rays of morning sunlight over a delicious breakfast from locally sourced ingredients at the top of Sportgastein.
